All CS2 teams invited to Shanghai Major RMR and qualifiers

Here's the total list.

On Aug. 6, Valve released a new update to its regional standings that determine the invitations for Counter-Strike 2 Shanghai Major’s RMR and its closed qualifiers. The best squads in each region are invited directly to the RMR, while the worst have to go through the qualifier first.

There is a catch, though. HLTV confirmed each organization can only submit one CS2 team to the Shanghai Major and its qualifiers. This means a few orgs have to decide which squads they want to use in the Major run. The organizations impacted include Imperial, MOUZ, and FlyQuest, whose female or academy teams are also eligible to qualify based solely on the standings. The latter issued a petition on Aug. 6 to Valve to change this rule.

In the tables below, we’ve listed these organizations’ main rosters (in their respective regions). This list may change until Perfect World and Valve issue official confirmations.

Cloud9’s attendance remains uncertain, since the current rankings use the former roster that was registered for the 2024 Esports World Cup. Since then, both Perfecto and HObbit left the active lineup, and alpha, who was used as a stand-in, has also since left the organization. Depending on C9’s decisions, they could lose their spot at the closed qualifier.

According to HLTV, South American teams that live and compete in North America can decide in which closed qualifier they want to participate in. Additionally, Limitless disbanded, so it’s uncertain whether the invited roster will accept the invitation. As such, the list could be a subject to a few changes.

Asia is the only region with an open circuit, with each sub-region (Oceania, China, East Asia, Middle East and Rest of Asia) still having a few spots open in the closed qualifier. Therefore, the list of participants in each of the closed qualifiers is bound to increase in the near future.

The closed qualifiers will take place worldwide by the end of August and will be played in the online format. RMRs, on the other hand, are held in Shanghai a few weeks before the Major itself begins on Nov. 30.

Like we mentioned earlier, specific organizations might still field their other rosters who are also eligible to compete. We will update this article accordingly when that happens, or when other squads make their way through Asia’s open circuit.
